
Star-Crossed may not be the best situation for lovers to find themselves in, but it is a good place to find yourself on a cold Chicago night. Muna and King Princess were tapped as the supporting acts for the Star-Crossed: Unveiled Tour and each artist added to the evening’s affable atmosphere. After the events of the on-going pandemic – with so many people experiencing their own losses – a crowd coming together to sing semi-sad songs is just what the doctor ordered. Rather than wallowing in melancholy, its lyrical themes lay out a path towards healing.

It’s because you set the scene, the audience rises to the climax of the problem with you, and then there’s resolve.Star-Crossed is an emotional album full of ballads and slow-burners examining Musgraves’ divorce. “And then I started looking into why portraying a tragedy is actually therapeutic and why it is a form of art that has lasted for centuries. “This last chapter of my life and this whole last year and chapter for our country - at its most simple form, it’s a tragedy,” Musgraves told Rolling Stone in a 2021 cover story.
